The Post Lady..
Children are so honest. Ask them a question, and they blabber out whatever comes to their minds without any worries. Last evening, I had this really amazing conversation with Rishith, who is almost 7 n half.
He had been observing me tapping the keys on the laptop for quite sometime and assumed that I must be writing my 'article'. He comes to me and says, 'why can't you be someone else rather than a writer..'
This took me by a little surprise for though I do freelance writing assignments and write for my blog, I don't think I am a 'writer'. Nevertheless, I ask him to suggest some alternate profession for me.
Cricket he says without blinking an eye lid. 'you could become a cricketer ma'. This is what he wants to be when he grows up. I tried to reason...'its too late for it...even Sachin retired when he was 35 and I am already 38...
'hmmm...then mom what about a footballer?' (with the new football and new shoes and new gang of friends, its football that's his favorite at the moment)
'Have you seen my size? I could become a football probably not a footballer'
He giggles with such abandon but he likes the idea of a fat woman playing football. He tries to convince me. 'Mom , you could be the goalkeeper...then you wouldn't have to run much or work much...just put your tummy out and stop the ball'
More giggles...
I convince him that sports is not possible now. He thinks for a while and then says 'what about a postman?' then rethinks and says 'no you can't be a postman...you are a girl so you will have to be a post lady'!!!
I have no arguments against this one though...
